Help Fight Proposed Donny’s Place Development

Update: our raffle was a HUGE success! Thank you to everyone who entered and congrats to our winners! The case is now moving forward through the legal system. We’ll keep you updated.

Help us fight the proposed 27 town home development at Donny's Place

On December 14, 2020 Pittsburgh’s Zoning Board ruled against our objections to the developer’s proposed zoning variances. But it’s not over yet! There is still a good chance to prevail in an appeal, so we’ve decided to keep up the fight.

We filed an appeal of the Zoning Board’s decision to the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County. In order to give us the best shot, we retained experienced legal counsel in the area of zoning and land use.

This will involve a lot of work— and significant legal costs. We need to raise at least $10,000 as a retainer for legal fees.

Between the PHCA and some generous anonymous donors we’re already most of the way there. But we need your help to ensure we can put up the best possible fight! We need to raise at least an additional $2,500 by the end of January to secure the necessary legal services.

Please consider making a donation towards our fundraising goal right now.

While we cannot guarantee how the legal case will turn out, we do believe we are on solid ground to contest the Zoning Board’s decision. We also foresee that by taking this step, there will be an opportunity for further dialogue with the developer at some point along the road. Rest assured that our singular focus is to align whatever may happen at that site with the neighborhood's priorities.

Our Housing & Development Committee has been following proposed projects at and around this site for years. The all-volunteer committee is working tirelessly to defend our neighborhood - and stand up for our values: affordable housing, safe and accessible infrastructure like roads and sidewalks and buildings and green spaces that reflect the character, needs and safety of our community.
