End of Year Fundraising

PHCA is asking for your support as we prepare for new adventures in 2025!

PHCA has gone through some significant changes over the past year and our board has been working hard to make sure we continue to support the community.

After the sale of the building in 2023, PHCA no longer has the consistent income from the rental apartments that it relied on so heavily to support its operating costs. We now must rely on membership fees, community fundraising and grants to fund all of our projects. Due to the changes in the census tract over the last few years, PHCA has also lost eligibility for a number of grants we regularly received in the past, such as the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). Unfortunately, there has also been an overall decrease in available funding and a considerable increase in the number of applicants for many grants we applied for and were not granted this year.

We have also been involved in the conservatorship hearing for the IHM school so we can make sure the neighborhood's voice is heard for the development of such an iconic building. This was a significant financial commitment and while we received a grant from The Heinz Endowments to financially assist with our involvement, it unfortunately did not cover all of our attorney fees. The PHCA owes $3,319.50 which must be paid out of our savings.

If you are unable to financially assist but would like to help with fundraising, please email phca@phcapgh.org! Every little bit helps and our Polish Hill neighbors have played such a huge role in the success of this organization for decades. We can't thank you enough for your commitment to making Polish Hill such a special place to live.
