In summer 2019 the PHCA was contacted about a proposed housing development at the Donny’s Place site. Since then, we have engaged with the developer to express concerns and share our community’s values: affordable housing, safe and accessible infrastructure like roads and sidewalks and buildings and green spaces that reflect the character of our community.
Despite this, the developer is attempting to move ahead with a plan that would include 27 market-rate town homes. We filed objections to their requested variances at the Zoning Board. In December, the Zoning Board ruled against our objections, so we retained experienced legal counsel and filed an appeal.
This will involve a lot of work— and significant legal costs. Between the PHCA and generous anonymous donors we’re most of the way there. But we need your help to ensure we can put up the best possible fight! We need to raise at least an additional $2,500 secure the necessary legal services.
While we cannot guarantee how the legal case will turn out, we do believe we are on solid ground. Our singular focus is to align whatever may happen with the neighborhood's priorities.
